Haiku 4 You
SUBMISSIONS FOR HAIKU 4 YOU ARE NOW CLOSED - A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED!
Join the Poetic City Festival by submitting to 'Haiku 4 You' - your haiku will appear around the city on tear-off-strip posters so passers-by can take one away.
Send your haiku (no more than five) to poeticcitycbr@gmail.com with the subject line 'Haiku 4 You'. Your haiku can be brand new, or previously published, and on any topic. Urban-flavoured haiku are encouraged! We will make our selection as broad as possible, but they should be suitable for display in a public place.

Rosemary’s Corner
On Sunday March 21, 2021, 1.30pm - 2.30pm, there will be a reading of Rosemary Dobson’s poetry at Poet’s Corner in Garema Place, Canberra City. (map)
Poets with connections to Rosemary Dobson, or an admiration for her work, will read her poems at the corner and reflect on how fitting it would be to expand the corner to include her likeness. Readers will include Caren Florance, Geoff Page and Melinda Smith. If you have a favourite poem of Rosemary’s you would like to read, email poeticcitycbr@gmail.com to sign up.
We will coordinate so the poems are not duplicated, so perhaps have a second and third choice ready as well!
Poetry Cinema
SUBMISSIONS FOR POETRY CINEMA ARE NOW CLOSED
The Poetic City festival will include an outdoor poetry cinema for two nights only! Submit your poetry video for consideration.
It can be brand new work, or may have been published or screened previously. A range of poetry videos between 1 and 5 minutes in length will be screened, with a fee of $50 for selected videos. At least 50% of videos screened will be by Canberra poets and artists.
To submit, email a link to your video (no attachments - please provide a link to googledrive/vimeo/youtube/facebook or similar) to: poeticcitycbr@gmail.com with the subject heading 'Poetry Cinema'. Each poet may submit a maximum of three videos.
Submissions close on Friday 12 March 2021, and we will advise whether your video has been selected by Friday 2 April 2021.
Transporting Words
SUBMISSIONS FOR TRANSPORTING WORDS ARE NOW CLOSED
Multilingual poets are invited to submit an expression of interest for a live multilingual poetry performance, with a backdrop of projected images. This event will be in Canberra on either Friday 16 or Saturday 17 April 2021, and will be part of Canberra's new Poetic City Festival (15 March - 26 April 2021).
We can't easily travel around the world right now, but words can take us anywhere! Take the audience on a trip - to your country or culture, another part of the world, into your experience of Australian life and culture - or perhaps into your own mind!
The performance will involve:
• Reading a 10 minute set of original poem/s in a language other than English
• Providing English translations or paraphrase of your poems
• Providing 10 - 20 images (these can be your own, photographs taken by family or friends, or publicly licensed images), which will be projected as a video slideshow during your performance.
English translations of your poems will incorporated into the video projection as captions. You can read an English translation of your poems, or simply allow the audience to read the English captions while they listen.
As this will be a live performance event, you must be based in or near Canberra to participate. There will be a fee of $100 for selected performers.
If you would like to be part of this event, email mothertonguemic@gmail.com. Include: your name, contact details, language/s you would read in, the titles of your poems, and three examples of pictures you would use (if selected you will need to provide 10-20 pictures).
Applications close on Friday 26 February 2021.
