At this workshop with COAR, Canberra’s Collective On Anti-Racism, participants will deepen their knowledge of anti-racism through the medium of poetry. They will be introduced to the topic of anti-racism more broadly and then read and discuss a variety of anti-racist poetry, with an emphasis on work that centres the lived experiences of people of colour.
The workshop will also invite participants to write their own anti-racist poetry, focusing on their positionality and perspective on this topic.
All people are invited to participate regardless of their knowledge of anti-racism.
COAR members, First Nations people and people of low socio-economic status/suffering financial hardship should select a free Access ticket.
TICKETS: $20 full/ $10 concession/ $0 access
The Collective on Anti-Racism (COAR) was nurtured on the stolen lands of Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. We are a community of people of colour that seek to curate anti-racist spaces in Canberra and to empower people that identify as Bla(c)k, Indigenous, and/or people of colour (BIPOC) to centre their lived experience on their anti-racist journeys.
COAR runs a monthly anti-racist BIPOC-centred discussion group called Roar with COAR and holds monthly autonomous community events. We also use our platforms to strengthen and celebrate the BIPOC communities in Canberra.
