Workshop: Urban Nature with Hazel Hall

  • Glebe Park Rotunda 38 Akuna St Canberra, ACT, 2601 Australia (map)

Join poet Hazel Hall in Glebe Park to create a poem and image set inspired by haiga - the traditional Japanese combination of haiku and painting.

Instead of brush painting and calligraphy, you will use your smartphone or tablet for this workshop. With Hazel's guidance, you will observe and photograph small details in the environment of the park and write poetry inspired by Japanese forms like haiku. Then, combine your poem and image to create a dual artwork. We will share your pieces on our instagram, and you can take a colour print home.

$10/$5 - bookings essential

Hazel Hall is an ex teacher, music lecturer and widely published poet. Her recent collections include Moonlight Over the Siding (Interactive Press 2019), and Severed Web, haiku with artist Deborah Faeyrglenn (Picaro Poets 2020). A collection of sonnets A Hint of Rosemary is forthcoming in 2021.
